Being happy!

Being happy and loving flowers. Fabric flowers.
Hello, my friends!
A Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt, entirely handmade, using the English Paper Piecing method! How proud I am!?...Uh! It was a lot of work, and still, it's a lot of work, but this quilt will be lovely!
I have here, flowers made from all my beloved fabrics.
It's a joy for me to touch them, to see them together.
I was tempted, first, to make the sides from a single piece but after few minutes, I've decided: it's better and even nicer to have sides from hexies...well, go for it: 240 more hexagons!!
Oh, I know: I'll keep the paper hexies! - who knows, maybe I will be able to make another quilt, sometimes.
They look like strings.

I sewn sticky notes on top, to not loose the right position for my first layout choice.
And because I like order and discipline, and a well organized work, I tried to arrange all the hexies, all the time, having a nice print distribution and symmetries of the prints for those flowers.
Also, it was a law for me, to keep the lengthwise grain for every single hexagon I've made.
This "rule" was broken only when I had to arrange some... "kaleidoscopes", for the middle flower.
This is what I have, so far, today:
Still a long way till finish, but I get closer!
Happy sewing!

Another kind of ring

Hello everyone!
It was love at first sight: my love for "Wedding ring" quilts; and I find it hard to paper piecing all the rings for all the blocks, I needed to make one, without using this technique. A well printed fabric can be so useful! Like this one:
I printed a pattern from my EQ5 for a 10" block Wedding ring.
First try, this is it:
Not bad, eh!? The fabrics always inspire me:

I made only 4 blocks today, I'm not sure if I should make a pillow or a quilt?!
Maybe it will be a quilt, I like sewing these and I really love the result.
New day, new blocks...
Well, I see a quilt in the future! (and a pretty one! ;) for sure!)
Happy sewing, my friends!

I need a pouch!

My dear friends,
Being my first post for 2013, I wish you all the best for this year!!

I needed a pouch!
And how every time, something new is exciting - a new fabric gives me a lot of imagination! - for this reason I went to a thrift store (like always, when I'm looking for a good deal on buying fabrics).
I had a luckily chance to find one yard from this Japanese print for just $0.99!!
Wow. "Kimono Collection" by Hoffman. A pleasure to touch it!

From a few scraps, I cut one inch squares and  I made hexagons, for these two flowers.
A white zipper, a piece of elastic and little fabric to line the pouch.
The fabric has a touch of golden, that's why I choose to make decorative stitches with golden thread, instead of applying leaves and stems.
And this is the...red side:
...this is the green side:
I'm pleased with this result for now, but I'll try some other possibilities for the shape of the pouch and I'll use this beautiful fabric.
Hope you like it!
Happy sewing, my friends!
