On my way, back home...

Hello everyone!
I was thinking about a recipe: if I'll use few cups of pancake mix, some leftovers, few boiled eggs and grated mozzarella cheese...?? Hm...
This is the result!

  • 5-6 cups pancake mix,
  • a pinch of salt
  • water to make a soft mixture(or you can also use milk!)
  • 3 spoons vegetable oil(or 3 teaspoons unsalted butter, melted)
  • (you can put one egg in to the mixture - I didn't, I had boiled eggs!)
  • 2 cups grated mozzarella cheese...
  • red or green peppers patted dry and cut into 1/4" dice
  • herbs as you like, fresh or dried - dill, basil, parsley
Preheat oven to 350F; line a 12 cup muffin pan with liners or nonstick spray; in a medium bowl, whisk together water/milk, butter (or oil), and egg. Add dry ingredients - pancake mix and salt - to milk mixture; whisk until just moistened (do not over mix; a few small lumps are fine). Gently fold in the mozzarella, the herbs and the peppers. Divide the batter evenly among the cups.
(I cut the eggs and 3 slices of Hungarian Salami and decorate the ..."muffins")
Bake for 35 min, until the top feel firm and take the toothpick test (it comes out clean).
Transfer to a rack to cool and serve them warm. You can add ketchup.

Bone Appetite  !!!

African Violets

 Hello everyone!
African Violet is a lovely flower. I had to read some care tips for them, here  and here , a slightly reminder for what I did before, ...when I was young (and unafraid...)
I feel good looking at this one; I couldn't resist to take pictures and I want to dedicate it to all my friends around the world!

Othewise, steady, peaceful days (at least for us)...
And my Friday-Night-Homemade-Pizza...

Cheers, my friends! and all the best for you!

Dark Pink

Hello my dear friends,
I'm excited to finish my late projects, like this pillow cover:

I looked everywhere for this yarn, and for a long time!
(this is my first attempt to crochet after  100 years...) didn't find it, so I decided to make the back one color and knitted, maybe I'll make a pattern or not..will see!

 Happy... knitting!!

Try a crocheted blanket!

Hello my friends,
I am pleased to present to you my first crocheted blanket!

These mittered granny squares offers many possibilities, I had fun, and I spent some time arranging them!

The squares are quite big, eye-measuring my yarn, I decided to make a blanket! isn't too big, a lap size, but cozy enough...
And now, I'll have a hot cup of tea and a wonderful book...
Heave a good time, everyone!

Happy ...crocheting!

...not afraid by corners!

Nope!...I'm not afraid by corners!
Well, not anymore! If you take you time, like a good quilter you are, and understand what's happening in that corner, the technique is very simple!
In the past, I had such hard time fighting with these corners!
That's why, now, I follow these steps:
  • measure the diamond side and add 1/2 ", to know square side,
  • mark one corner with a black/white pencil, depends on the fabric color,
  • position the star under the needle, like this
  •  it's an Y seam there, between two of the eight points of the star, so it must open easily
  • place the square with the marked point, right above the little thread you can see in the opened seam
  • needle down trough the marked point
  • do few stitches front and back to secure it and finish this side to the end.

I foud easy to start the other side from the point to the corner, secure at the end, in the corner, the same, few stitches, where is the marked point.
This is the result:
Below is the firs quilt.
The second one I have, is unfinished: I am totally "hooked" in a crochet mood  for about 2 months now, making pillow cases and blankets - I can't escape...(but I want to?!)
Well, happy...crocheting, my friends!

3 rounds! and more...

Hello my friends!!
How about mini pies!? Have you tried this? Do you like them??
I made eight pies first, and twice more after that, made another six little pies, each time ...
 all gone!
Here's the recipe I used, if you are interested:
♥ for THE DOUGH:
   1 1/4 cup strained flour
   1/2 cup cold butter
2 or 3 tablespoons cold water
   1/4 teaspoon salt,
Add the flour in a medium bowl.
Use a pastry cutter or fork to cut the butter into the flour.
Sprinkle the 2-3 tablespoons of cold water in the bowl.
Mix the ingredients together until thoroughly combined and away from the bowl.
You may add an extra tablespoon of water, if needed.
Place the dough in the refrigerator for about 20 to 30 minutes, or until firm.
♥ THE FILLING - in a large pan:
1 onion, chopped and fried, add
2 potatoes cut in little cubes,
   1 can green peas,
1/2 chopped carrot, (or any other veggies you love, but small amounts of: mushrooms, peppers, eggplant, broccoli, etc.)

!! ♥ add any meat you want, in small pieces, Deli or even leftovers: ham, meatballs, steak or grill.

Cook covered and add water little by little to steam all this and put away the pan when potatoes are soft.
  Let it cool a bit.
  Preheat the oven to to 345ºF;
  Soft oil the containers for pies;
  Divide the dough into equal parts, for how many small pans you have, and from each part cut 1/3 to roll the lid;
Roll the dough in round shapes, lining the pans, add filling, cover, brush the pastry with egg,
  Bake for 30 min....

                                                                     (Easy as a pie)
Happy sewing!!

Crochet me a pillow, with love

Hello everyone,
Lately, I fell in love for real: the world of crochet work.
And I'm really hooked! I have already the top for 6 pillows! I think I made so many because I remembered all the pillows around me, during my childhood, from everywhere: my mom's pillows, my aunt's pillows, and of course, my grandmother's (nobody-know-how-many-not-just-decorative) pillows...
I found SOLVEIG'S blog - from Norway, that has an excellent TUTORIAL that I followed up with this result:

For the next one the yarn was a little thicker. I like those big flowers!
Here's the back of my work:
Thank you so much, Solveig, your work is so amazing!
For now, my projects are just for some pillow covers, but I'm thinking about a blanket, too...
How do you like these!? Do you crochet?? - let me know!
Well, all the best for you, my friends; I'll say this time: "Happy...crocheting!"
